Marriage at the embassy of your country in Turkey is distinguished by the fact that it does not require the couple’s residence papers to be submitted. Rather, it only requires a set of papers for both husband and wife as follows:

- A valid passport for both husband and wife.
- 6 personal photos of each of the husband and wife.
- Marital status document for both husband and wife; It is also called “individual civil registry”.
“Individual civil registry” is the most important paper among the required papers and you will need to extract it from the civil status office in your country. For Egyptians only, documenting the individual civil registry in the foreign ministry office of Egypt is a must.
As for other nationalities, an additional procedure of marriage is required, which is documenting the paper in your country’s embassy in Ankara or the consulate in Istanbul. A document of proof of marital status (individual civil registry) is needed to verify that the marital status is single since the Turkish law does not approve polygamy.
Note that: The marital status document has a validity date of 3 months only from the date of its issuance; And for this, the marriage contract must be expedited during that period, otherwise you will have to extract a document proving the current marital status.
Medical examination for both husband and wife:
It is a condition that the medical examination of the couple takes place in one of the governmental medical centers. You will find the phrase “Sağlık Bakanlığı”, is written on those centers, which means that the centers are affiliated with the Ministry of Health
You have to go to one of these centers and request a medical examination for the purpose of marriage, which is called “evlilik muayenesind” in Turkish.

Document approval of the marriage contract from the guardian or trustee:
This document is required if the age of the spouses or one of them is between 16 and 18 years old.
Whereas, Turkish law prohibits the completion of marriage procedures except in the presence of one of the parents, or the existence of a consent document from the guardian or trustee.
Residence document for marriage in Turkey for foreigners:
The residence document can be either a house deed, rent contract or a tapu. In case of the absence of a residence permit in Turkey, a document should be provided from the place of residence and accommodation, even if it is a hotel or any place, there must be a document proving the residence in a place inside Turkey.

It is provided that the document states the date of residence, the duration of residency, and the address.
After preparing the previous papers, you must contact your country’s embassy in Ankara or the consulate of your country in Istanbul to decide and choose the date of the marriage.
