The Istanbul City Council unanimously approved a decision to reduce the subscription fees for the blue transportation card, Istanbul card for students, from 85 to 40 liras. It can be used 200 times for a month.
This card is distinguished by being personal, as it may only be used by its owner, as the subscriber’s information is printed on the card, as well as the card holder’s photo. The card costs the student 10 Turkish liras to be paid when applying for the card, and after obtaining the card, the balance in it is charged at 85 Turkish liras per month. The state provides many opportunities and facilities for students, and in the field of transportation, a transportation card has been allocated for them, enjoying these discounts. This includes the possibility for the student to obtain cards for visiting museums and archaeological sites for a small amount of money not exceeding 30 liras. All students from primary school to university can obtain a student card. You can apply for it at the IETT centers or via the Internet. The discount rate compared to the regular card is 50%.

How to get the Istanbul card for students online
Log in to the IETT’s website and create an account. The site asks you to fill in your data: your national number, your name, phone number and email. Then you will receive the account activation number by mobile phone and then by e-mail.
The site requests to upload a white background personal photo taken within less than six months, followed by the payment of the card fee of 10 liras via the bank account. You must enter your data, your address accurately, and then click Continue, your data will be verified, then the card will be printed and sent by PTT mail within days.

- A paper extracted from the place of study to prove the student’s enrollment.
